What Is Over Your Toilet? – Update

Back in October I asked you what you have above your toilet, and what you might suggest to go over mine.

I considered each and every suggestion, and finally came up with something.

Here is the before photo:

What do you think?

Just to clarify, I did not paint the walls.  It is just different lighting.

Now, to decorate the guest bedroom! At least I have ideas this time. 🙂

Thanks for all your help!

Happy Thanksgiving – 2011

Last week as the flock of turkeys made their way in front of our house I thought that I needed to get a photo of it for my Thanksgiving post.  They were even mulling aroud yesterday morning, and what did I do?  I played with my nephew, Lawrence.

Turkey vs. Lawrence, well Lawrence wins everytime!

So, I guess I am the turkey this year.  LOL

I didn't see if they were mulling around this morning, because I was too busy making dressing or stuffing, whatever you call it.

This year we are doing things a little different.  The heating element in my mom's oven is out, but she has the most room at her house for all the family.  So, my sister and I are making the meal and mom is making desserts that don't have to be baked.

I made the corn dip I make every year, deviled eggs, and two types of dressing.  My dad is gluten-free, and I was determined to make him his own special dressing.  Then, I also made some regular dressing.  This is the first time I've ever made dressing.  Hopefully, it will turn out okay.

My sister is making the turkey, mashed potatoes, spicy pretzels, and green bean stuff.  It isn't really a green bean casserole, so we call it "stuff".  This is the first time she's ever made the turkey, so we almost had a catastrophe on our hands.  She didn't realize it took so long to thaw a turkey, so as of yesterday morning she hadn't bought one.  We fixed that.  We went to our local meat market and bought a fresh one.  🙂

I think we are all set.  Now, I just have to figure out how to keep all of this warm for the three hour drive.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!

Hope you have a fabulous day!

What Is Over Your Toilet?

Seriously!

ACR_3149designThis is what is over mine.

Nada.

Zilch.

Nothing.

I need to remedy this.

But what should I put over the toilet?

This is what the rest of the bathroom looks like.

ACR_3150design
It is really kind of hard to tell, but the colors in here are red and brown.

Quick question…

How do you feel about photos in the bathroom?  Do you feel like they are watching you go to the loo?  Or are you like me and could really care less?

Yes, I realize there are three questions there instead of one quick question, but they just kept coming to me. 🙂

ACR_3151designI took this photo so you could see what the tin tiles look like.  They are on both sides of the mirror.

I need to get this house decorated, to get some sort of design going.  Right now, the only rooms in the house that have anything on the wall are the living area, kitchen, dining area, and master bedroom.

I still need to decorate the guest room, finish the guest bath, master bath, entry way, work out room, and laundry room. And we have been in our house for almost four years now.  I am so not good at this type of thing.

I just need to throw something out there.  I don't want sea shells on the back of my toilet.  I am not sure what the deal is, but have you ever noticed that a lot of people put sea shells on their toilet?  What is up with that?  I prefer to just decorate the walls around the toilet.

Any recommendations on what I should put there?  Keep in mind our house is pretty rustic/country.

I am so anxious to hear your ideas!

Extreme Couponing?

Do you use coupons?

What about extreme couponing?

McD came in the other day (read: a month or more ago), and asked me if I realized how much money we had spent on groceries.  I did not.  Shoot, I haven't been doing the grocery shopping since June, so I wouldn't really have any idea.  I was floored at how much we were spending.  I don't even know what the average household spends on groceries, but ours had to be way above.  We get the dog food, household cleaning supplies, and paper products at the same time so it is included but still I think we could cut cost.

Am I the only person that doesn't understand how the "extreme" couponing works?

I understand clipping the coupons and finding coupons online.  I get that much of it.

I don't get how people get $200 worth of groceries for little to nothing.

Do you?

Can someone explain it to me?

I'm tired of paying so much for groceries.

A New Pan!

Okay, I completely forgot I took this photo and I took the photo so I could remember to post a review on it. Can you say brain burp?  Excuse me.

ACR_0761
Years ago I bought a large 12" non-stick pan, and I loved it! Loved. It!  But here recently I noticed that the non-stick coating had started to chip.  I don't really know why, because "I" never used anything but safe utensils with it.  I can't speak for everyone in the house though (there are two of us).  I did put it in the dishwasher, but it did say it was dishwasher safe.  But who really cares why it chipped?  It lasted for years, and it was an inexpensive Martha Stewart pan from Kmart.

Pans have come a long way since I bought that pan.  Just look at this one.  I love the oval pan.

But I would love it more if I had a larger stove-top.  I was under the impression that the pan would heat evenly, but I don't get that.  I have not tried putting it in the oven yet, but will do that eventually.

Although it doesn't heat evenly for me, and it could just be me, I still love it!

It isn't too heavy, and it is easy to clean.

Now, let's talk about where I got it.  I went to CSN Stores to buy it.  I have bought several things from them, and every time I am very happy with my choices, purchase, and customer service.

You know, the only time you really hear about someone's experience with a company is when they have a bad experience.  Let's change that!  Let's spread the news when we have a good experience too.

I just did!  Tell me about your latest good experience.

Looking Back – February

Today seemed like a great day to look back at all of my February posts from years past.  And how I wish I hadn't.

2007

Occassionally, I sit around and watch our cattle.  It is something I love to do.  Cattle have different personalities just like you and I.  It is hilarious.  This little dude was one of my favorites, before we sold him.  Little 18 loved drinking water from the hose.  Really!

I had a horrible Dumb & Dumber moment at McD's grandmother's house.  Oh, wow.  I had forgotten about this one.

And we broke ground on our new home.  I never thought it would happen, but dreams do come true!  They do!!

2008

This Valentine's Day post was dedicated to my husband.  It was also Thankful Thursday.  I forgot all about this post, but I still feel the same way.  Don't think it is ever going to change.

I experienced Jury Duty for a brutal case.  You will need to read Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 to get the whole story.

2009

I took a little blogging break here, so there weren't many posts in the archives.

Paul Harvey left this wonderful world.

The Biggest Loser, American Idol, and Michael Phelps were on my mind.

2010

I found out that George Clooney is a bad kisser.

McD was "Waitin' on a Woman" at Wal-Mart.

We lost one of the loves of my life.  Hoss.  (McD – don't click on this one. Trust me.  Stef – you either!)

And I love this video, it is a must see.  It is the perfect way to end this post.  Especially after reading the post about Hoss.  There was another post about our last night together, but I didn't have the heart to link to another one about him.

In Dreamland, Again.

We have been in our house for three years now.  Can you believe it?  Seriously, three years.  It just doesn't seem real!

I remember back in the day, sitting on the couch in the abode on wheels (aka fifth wheel), dreaming of what we would put in this house.  We had sold or given away almost everything we owned.  Well, we kept an old 36" television because at the time it was *big*, and a couple of recliners, a futon and a full size bed.  Oh, and a bowflex.  Seriously, that is about all we had for furniture.  But, since we sold our house, bought a fifth wheel and moved out to the ranch there wasn't any need for all that stuff.  The fifth wheel came with a couch, recliner, dining room table, chairs, queen size bed, and all the appliances.  We had everything we needed once we threw a television in there and hooked it up to the satellite internet, and tv. :)

I would surf the internet.  Tear out pages of magazines when I would find a piece of furniture I just had to have.  Some were pieces of modern furniture, some were more western or rustic, and some were just downright unbelieveable.  Prices that is, untouchable, dreamland kinds of stuff.

I had a notebook full of those page protectors, and I was filling them up with everything from a sketch of the house plans that I drew up, to the light fixtures I wanted, and to the appliances I wanted.  Oh those are just a few of the things.  I also had photos of rooms that I liked bits and pieces about, not the whole room mind you.  The sink in this one, the tile in the shower in this one, even the shower head in one of the photos.  I had it all layed out.

But now that we have been in the house for a whole three years, I might want to start looking at some of the websites I visited before.  Maybe I will start thumbing through some more magazines, and tear out the pages I like.  Maybe, just maybe I will start another notebook and fill it full of renovation ideas.  I have a few things I could start with.

Dear McD,

If you are reading this, don't worry.  You know how long it took me to put together the first notebook.  I am sure it will take even longer to put together another one.   Right now I am just dreaming. 🙂

Love you!

Halloween Decor

©ACR_0210
I don't really decorate for holidays much.  I would love to, but there's really no reason to dress up the house when we are the only ones ever here.

But a long time ago, or it seems like a long time ago, we lived in town.  We are not "city" people, never have been.  It is hard to grow up in the country, and then live in town.  Seriously, living in town has a few perks, but I would much rather live out in the boonies.  We only lasted in town for a couple of years.

Since we had a little bout with city livin' I had a few decorations for the holidays.  I just forgot that I had these cute little ghosts for Halloween.  We have two.  This one and one that is a bit smaller.  Isn't it cute?

That is the extent of my Fall decorations.  Do you go all out with your Fall/Halloween decor?
