Thankful Thursday – May 2, 2013

Snow.

Really?

It's May, and we have snow in the forecast. I know we live in Okla-freaky-weather-homa, but this is crazy!

All of these photos were taken during our last snow, which might have been the prettiest snow ever!

ACR_7349
The cows had been huddled under this tree, and had knocked a lot of the snow off of it. I bet it was pretty warm under there with all of them huddled together.

ACR_7354
Peace.

That is the feeling that comes over me when I look back on these photos.

ACR_7362
This is where the horses come to get out of the wind. McD would cut all of these cedars down if the animals didn't use them so much.

As I sat here going through all of my photos from this beautiful sunkissed, snow covered day I remember how McD came into the house and told me he wanted to drive me around to show me the pretty snow. He thought I might want to take some photos before it all melted away. I didn't want to at first, it was cold and I felt pretty good cuddled up on the couch. But I went.

ACR_7377It's Thankful Thursday, and there are so many reasons to be thankful.  I could sit here all day writing about every little thing, but instead I will name just a few.

I am thankful for the unbelievably beautiful world in which we live. I love capturing the beauty on film with my camera.

I am thankful for the different seasons. Not just Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, but the different seasons of our lives, as well.

And lastly, I am thankful for the wonderful man I married. I am thankful that he encourages me to step out into the world, soak it all in, and capture the stills. He encourages me to be me, and loves me for me. He is my rock.

Thankful Thursday – Jan. 3, 2012

ThankfulThurs
Black-eyed peas are not my thing. Do you eat black-eyed peas each New Year? I realize they are a symbol of luck, but I really don't do superstitions. Okay, I might not open an umbrella in the house, or walk under a ladder, but it doesn't mean I believe in superstitions. Some of them are kind of fun to do like holding your breath over a bridge, or raising your feet when you drive over a railroad track. Fun, that is all they are for me.

The year of 2011, we ate black-eyed peas to play along with the world. That is the year I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The year of 2012, we skipped the black-eyed peas, and I beat breast cancer!

This year, 2013, I started the year cancer-free! I have finished all of my treatments and surgeries. I have to take Tamoxifen for another 4 years, but that's no step for a stepper. And my hair is growing!

Today, I am thankful for my cancer free life.

Thankful Thursday – My LAST Chemo Treatment

I'm getting ready to walk out the door, be chauffered into town, and receive my last chemo treatment.

I AM SO THANKFUL!!

Last night I laid in bed trying to figure out what kind of Chemo Treatment Fun we could have today, but I just kept coming back to the fact that I've made it to my last treatment.  Sure, I love hearing funny stories about the first car you drove or owned, jokes, and other silly things like that.

And if you have something funny to share, please do!  I always enjoy reading them, laughing at them, and making other people in the treatment room wonder what kind of drugs I'm really getting.  McD likes reading them too!!  Really, it is part of our entertainment as we kill four hours there.

But.  Today is another Thankful Thursday.

Today I am SO thankful for my doctors, nurses, pretty ladies in the office (Lady P who keeps me honest on my Thankful Thursdays every Thursday), and my new friend Shirley.

I am thankful for all my friends and family who have supported me throughout this whole ordeal, and who I know will continue to do so through my next few surgeries.  Thank you!!

For Wes & Jane, and Cyndi who found me at the rodeo to hug my neck and let me know I was loved!

For all the cards of encouragement I have received in the mail.

For my wonderful husband who treats me like a queen no matter what!!  I couldn't do any of this without you, McD!

And lastly, I am SO thankful for the rain we got last night!

So what are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday – 2/10/11

Things have been happening over here at Another Chance Ranch.  Behind the scenes kinds of things.  Like me sitting on my hiney surfing the web, finding new bloggy friends via blog frog, and visiting said blogs.

A few years ago I decided to declare Thursdays, Thankful Thursday.  I would post what I was thankful for, and I encouraged everyone else to share what they were thankful for as well.  Little did I know that someone else was doing the same thing.  In fact, they were a little more organized.  They had a group already set up, and I wasn't a part of this group.  I could have joined in the group right away, but something held me back.

Fast forward a few years.

Today I was, as mentioned before, finding new bloggy friends on Blog Frog and I came across Mommy J's Thoughts of a Working Mom blog.  She had posted her Thankful Thursday post, and instantly I was inspired to write my own.  Some of you might know that I started trying to bring my Thankful Thursday posts back here and there.

I clicked on over to her blog to read her post, and guess what!?!  You could have knocked me over with a feather, there is another Thankful Thursday group.  A different one that was together when I first discovered someone had beat me to the punch.

Something is different this time though.  This time I am joining in!  I hope you will too!

This week we were hit with between fourteen and fifteen inches of snow.  We live in Oklahoma, a state where we get only get snow every once in a while and it is usually just an inch or two here and there.  But in December of 2009 we were dumped on, and now we've been dumped on again.  Twice in just about a weeks time.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, I like the snow.  I enjoy playing in the snow.  I have many, many memories of playing in the snow.  In fact, yesterday as the snow was falling I texted my mom and told her that I wished she were here so we could make a snowman.  We used to always make snowmen.  This isn't the best snowman making snow though.  We could've gone sledding though.

With all of this snow covering the ground my mind shifts to things that I should be, and am, thankful for.  Like indoor plumbing.  Oh my goodness, I can't even imagine having to trek through fourteen inches of snow just to go tinkle.  This morning it was 22˚ below zero.  I don't know about you, but when I get up in the morning the first thing I want to do is go to the potty.  If we didn't have indoor plumbing I might have stayed in bed all day long.

You might think it is silly to be so thankful for something so common, but just think back to the Little House on the Prairie days.  I am thankful we that we have a home where the cold drafts are not coming in everywhere.

I am so very thankful that we have running water at our barn too.  I can't even imagine having to haul water in buckets in this stuff.  I guess seeing Little House on the Prairie on the tv guide listing a while back kind of got me to thinking.

Thankful Thursday – 2011

Good morning!

Today is the first Thankful Thursday of the year 2011.  Twenty Eleven.  Two Thousand Eleven.

I have so many things to be thankful for, and I know you do too.

I am so thankful for my husband.  I know, I know, I've said that before.  But before I had not been out of a job for over 6 months.  Before, I was helping on the financial front.  And now, now I spend more than I make.  Only because I don't make anything.  Spending $1 is spending more than I make, and my husband, McD, doesn't make me feel guilty about it. at. all.

The other morning he mentioned that the first thing I do in the morning is get up, and get on my computer.  And it is true, I do.  But you see, I have several job listing emails/sites to check before I start my day.  Honey, that is why I get on the computer.  Oh, and to check that book called Face.  But the first thing I check is the newest job listings.

I am so thankful that when McD comes home he doesn't ask what I've done all day.  He doesn't push me to find a job, in fact, he never mentions it.  I don't know if he already knows that I think about it enough for the both of us, or if he enjoys me being home.

What are you thankful for on this beautiful Thankful Thursday?

Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you are posting what you are thankful for today.

Thankful Thursday – 9-16-10

Good morning bloggies, family, friends, peeps, and tweeps!

Hope you have had a great week so far.  I have and I am thankful for it.

This morning I am pretty durn thankful for my good friend Stef and her family for taking care of our animals while we were out of town.  It was so very helpful to us, and we appreciate it so much!

I am also thankful for my dear friend Vicki, and her sweet Hubs.  Vicki is always there to support me in everything I do.  She will tell me the truth whether I want to hear it or not, this is a good thing by the way.  She will be there through thick and thin with her family and friends. She is a wonderful lady.  (And I get to have lunch with her today!)

I am truly thankful for all of my family and friends.   I hold each and everyone of them near and dear to my heart.  I just wish I could see them all more often.

What are you thankful for today?  Be sure to let me know if you post a thankful Thursday on your blog, I'd love to stop by and see it!

Edited to add the links.  Sorry, don't know where my head is today.  Apparently in a fog since it just set in here.

Thankful Thursday – 9/9/10

A while back I had something going here called Thankful Thursday.  I discontinued it because someone else had thought of it before I did, and they pretty much had a system already going.  I didn't want to be a copy cat, so I discontinued mine and occasionally participated in theirs.

Today I am going to do my own Thankful Thursday, and I will probably continue without creating such a todo about it.  If you would like to join in, please do.  Just let me know you are playing along by leaving a comment and I will check yours out too.

Thankful Thursday – Sept. 9, 2010

1.  I am thankful for my Otter Box.  Apparently I left my phone outside on the porch all night.  Yea, smooth move, I know.  It rained most of the night.  That is why I am so thankful for my Otter Box.

2.  I am thankful for the rain we have received!  Now I just have to decide whether to drive the pick-up today or the Jeep.  McD just washed the Jeep the other day and it is so nice and shiny I hate to mess it up.  With that being said…

3.  I am thankful for McD!  He is so good to me.

4.  I am thankful that the dogs have decided to settle down and nap this morning.  They can be pretty rambunctious and loud.

These all seem like minor things I know, but sometimes it is the small things we forget to be thankful for.

5.  I am thankful for my friends and family.

6.  I am thankful for having a jacket.  It doesn't sound like much, but when I get cold, I get miserable.  I have to go to the grocery store today and it is always cold in there.  And I did lay out my pink re-usable grocery bags, thank you very much!  (Please let me remember to take them!!)

7.  I am thankful for my readers, because without you I would have stopped doing this blog thingymajig a long time ago.  You keep me going, and for that I am thankful!

8.  I am thankful that I was able to get two loads of laundry done before 10 am this morning.  I hope to be thankful that the ironing goes just as fast this afternoon. 🙂

9.  Speaking of little things.  I am so thankful for my pillow, blanket, and comfortable bed.  It breaks my heart that not everyone has one.

After reading this list again, it seems pretty lame.  This morning I had a great post going in my mind.  I wish I could be thankful for my great memory, but I can't today.  That is why I must go and make a list for the grocery store.

While I am doing that, you should head on over to Aggie's Kitchen and enter to win a Scarlet Thread's apron.  They are too cute! I entered, you should enter too.
