Who knew that Camel Spiders reside in Oklahoma? This girl didn't!
A few weeks ago, I walked outside to see this strange looking spider on the back porch. It looked like it was convulsing, so what did I do? I took a photo and posted it on Facebook, and Instagram. I'm fun like that!
I was running out the door when I saw it, and just knew the phone photo would have to do, because it would either be dead or gone by the time I got back. Dead would have been fine, gone would have been a bummer because that meant I wouldn't get more photos of it. I'm weird like that!
Look at those beady little eyes, spiky things all over, and those claws. The black things right up front are claws. Really. And do you know how one gets a photo like this? They lay down on the concrete right in front of it. Tell me that I'm not adventurous!
I honestly, had no clue what kind of spider it was, so I did what everybody would do…I Googled it! After thirty minutes or so of looking at photos of spiders, some kind of cute ones and other really icky ones, I found the Camel Spider. EWW!
I learned that the Camel Spider is part spider and part scorpion. Ewww Ewww Ewww! And apparently, they are in the southern part of the United States, and in Mexico, as well as in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
Now that I have grossed everyone out, including myself, I think I will go for a walk.
