There's a drought going on in our neck of the woods.  Everything and everybody has been trying to stay cool in our 110+ degree weather.

So, when we took the dogs for a walk the other day, we found this little guy nestled in some horse manure trying to stay cool.

ACR_2993tur I'm not quite sure how cool a pile of manure is, but I guess it was moist.

Poor stinky little guy.

I’m with you in the drought/heat. Our dot on the planet has not had a drop of rain since March. Our triple digit temperatures have been soaring since May. It is dire. I worry about all the animals…all the creeks and ponds have dried up. Even the lakes are very low. Ancient oaks that have endured hundreds of years of Texas weather are now crisp and brown. A landscaper friend of mine said that he was installing some trees last week, and his crew had dug down about 30 inches or so, and the dirt was dried out to a powder. He said he’s never seen anything like it. Rumors are starting to fly that we are soon going to be another ‘dust bowl’…which makes me very sad. I’m grieving for the animals, but even more for the farmers. There is so much crop loss this year. Actually, the whole world should be on their knees for Texas, as the agriculture here feeds millions of people. We need rain. We need lots of rain. Please pray for rain…for EVERYBODY that needs it…and everything…including turtles. :/

That is both the cutest and grossest thing I’ve seen today. lol
I’m glad to see your spirits are staying high. I’m a firm believer in that being half the battle.

when you said that he was probably looking for moisture I pictured that little turtle with a straw trying to get a sip of moisture. I started laughing. Poor little thing.

My grandmother used to say “Happy as a pig in slop.” I guess now we can add “Happy as a turtle in a turd.” I like it, it flows.
